My Morning Recitation
What makes for a great morning? This is the daily recitation that I use
Mornings can be a powerful time of the day.
It can be a time when you collect your energies and start to focus on the day ahead. Here is a suggested daily recitation.
We wake, and refresh ourselves.
We center ourselves with deep breaths, with calmness,
with solidity in being in our bodies,
in the remembrance of our strengths.
We look forward - to the challenges ahead for which we have been preparing ourselves.
We look forward - to being useful and helpful to our family, our friends, our communities and our earth.
We are grateful for all that we have received from our loved ones, from our community, from the earth and from the work and effort that we have done.
We welcome the chance to learn and improve.
I give respect, and I expect respect.
I am positive and proactive.
I am an independent thinker. I use reason, science and humanism to guide my actions and my decisions.
I have reverence for all life. I am an earthling.
I am grateful for the food that we have prepared. It nourishes me and gives me energy. I know there are many who do not have this. I am aware and will do what I can to help them.
I am grateful for the freedoms that we have, the chance to study, to learn, to think and speak freely, the chance to grow, to work and contribute to our family, our communities and the world. I know there are many who do not have this despite the world's commitment to universal human rights. I am aware and will do what I can to help them.
I find strength and support in this family who loves me, and who wishes the best for me. I wish the best for them, and will give them my strength and support through my positive, loving actions.
I welcome the day.
I am ready.
